Your therapy website should do more than just list your services.
People often find a therapist’s website during a difficult moment. They may be anxious, uncertain, or working up the courage to ask for help. Your website should make that easier: clear, calm, and structured so the right information is there before they have to ask for it.
A therapy website has another audience: the search engines that help people find you. Getting the SEO right, without chasing keywords no one searches or publishing 3,000-word service pages into the void, takes more strategy than most marketing advice suggests.
Not sure why your site isn’t showing up, or why people aren’t scheduling? Let’s take a look.

Common website challenges for therapy practices
You’re getting inquiries but not the right ones
Generic copy — especially copy built around informational terms — may get a lot of impressions that don’t convert. A site structured around your specific work, your approach, and the concerns of the people you help will do a much better job attracting the people who are ready to work with you.
Locked into a marketing package with unclear results
You signed up for an SEO service, you’re paying every month, and you still can’t explain what’s being done or whether it’s working. Sometimes the tactics are risky: chasing keywords that conflict with your directory listings, or producing generic blog content that doesn’t reflect your practice at all. I work with you to implement measurable SEO strategies, not churn out marketing mystery meat.
Creating friction for the people you most want to help
Many people searching for a therapist are doing so during a difficult moment. If your website is slow, cluttered, or difficult to navigate on a phone, you’re adding friction for exactly the people you want to welcome. Accessibility isn’t just a technical checkbox. It includes clear language, readable contrast, and predictable navigation that helps an anxious visitor find what they need.
Emily truly listens. She makes suggestions and gives examples of possibilities you may never have considered. Her guidance throughout the design process was invaluable.

How I help therapy practice owners
A therapy website isn’t just a design project. It’s a content problem, a trust problem, and sometimes a technical problem — often all at once. Here’s how I help:
Search engine optimization & local SEO
Most therapists and wellness practitioners can’t compete for broad keyword terms against large directories and group practices — and that’s fine, because that’s not where the best clients come from. I help you identify the searches your ideal clients are using, structure your site to answer those searches, and build content that earns trust and clicks.
Custom WordPress development
I build custom WordPress websites that reflect your brand and are easy to navigate. That means a thoughtful structure for your services and specialties, a practice content strategy that allows for your capacity, and an editing experience you can manage yourself without calling a developer every time you need to update content.
Accessibility conformance
I build to WCAG 2.1 AA, test with automated and manual methods, and train your team on the basics of creating accessible content. This helps to reduce your legal exposure and aligns your site with the same care you bring to client work.

What it’s like to work with me
Based in Chautauqua County, NY, I serve solo practices, small group practices, and wellness studios throughout the United States. I’ve been working with healthcare professionals for over 20 years and understand the particular combination of clinical ethics, limited bandwidth, and genuine care for clients that shapes how you want to show up online.
Custom, thoughtful planning
No two practices are the same. Before I recommend anything, I take time to understand your specialty, your client population, and your capacity.
Responsive communication
You work directly with me throughout your project. I explain decisions in plain language, recap what we’ve agreed on in writing, and stay reachable between working meetings.
Decisions backed by data
I use Google Search Console, your site analytics, and keyword research to guide decisions. You’ll understand why we’re doing what we’re doing, and you’ll be able to see the results.

Therapy practice website FAQs
How long does it take to build an therapy practice website?
Custom WordPress websites can take 4-6 weeks or 6-8 months. This process includes discovery, design, development, content creation, and thorough testing.
Request a complimentary call with me and we can review your current site and needs.I’ll provide a clear proposal and timeline after our initial consultation.
Do you understand HIPAA and PHI requirements for websites?
I’m not a compliance attorney, but I’ve worked with healthcare professionals long enough to understand the considerations around forms, email, scheduling integrations, and content. I’ll help you think through your setup and flag anything worth discussing with a compliance professional.
Will a new website affect my Google rankings?
A well-planned migration protects your existing rankings. We keep URLs consistent where possible, redirect anything that changes, and monitor Search Console through the transition. Most sites maintain or improve their visibility with better structure and content.
I make sure that your website is optimized for local search by including Google Business profile integration, researching local keywords for services, and developing location-specific content. This work helps you rank in local organic search when potential clients are looking for accounting services in your area.
We can also review other tools in the SEO tool-belt to help you achieve your search goals, including AI overviews and how social platforms factor into the bigger brand picture.
How can we use a blog without having to write every week?
We’ll identify a small set of high‑value topics, like complex issues your ideal clients always ask about, and build those into your site structure. That way, even a handful of well‑chosen articles can support your services, show your expertise, and give you something meaningful to share in email and social, without turning you into a full‑time writer.
Is the website optimized for search engines?
Every website I build includes foundational SEO including optimized page titles, meta descriptions, local business schema, and mobile-friendly design. We also optimize content for AI search tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI overviews, ensuring potential clients can find you whether they’re using traditional search engines or AI-powered search tools when looking for accounting services in your area.
Can I update the website content myself?
Absolutely. I always want to empower my clients to own and update their content. Custom websites are built on WordPress with user-friendly editing tools. I provide training and documentation so you can easily update service pages, and publish content without calling me every time.
Do you provide website hosting or do I need my own?
I can work with select existing hosting providers or recommend managed WordPress hosts that specialize in professional service websites. I’ll guide you through the technical requirements and help ensure your hosting meets security and performance standards.
“You get what you pay for,” is the general rule of thumb here and cheap hosting is cheap hosting.
Do you handle ongoing maintenance and updates?
Websites require consistent maintenance to stay secure, functional, and compliant. I offer website maintenance plans after 30-days of complimentary support which include: regular security updates, performance monitoring, backup management, and accessibility audits.
I also provide priority support for urgent issues and help with content updates when your team needs assistance.
How much content do I need to write myself?
That depends on how much help you want. Some clients provide rough notes and I handle the writing. Others write their own copy and I edit for clarity and structure. We’ll figure out what works for you before we start.
Can you help me move away from a therapist-specific platform?
If you’re on a proprietary platform or a general-purpose site builder, we can discuss the benefits of migrating your content to WordPress while keeping your domain, protecting your SEO, and giving you a site you actually own. The unknowns here need to be addressed in a call – options may depend on what services are being provided beyond website hosting and content management.
Do you offer ongoing help after launch?
Yes! Monthly or annual site maintenance subscriptions are offered. Additional support is available for updates, small improvements, and questions. No long-term contracts required.
I’ve been burned by SEO agencies. How is this different?
I don’t do ongoing SEO retainers. Instead, I build a site with strong structural SEO from the start, help you develop a realistic content plan, and teach you what you need to maintain it. You’ll always know what’s happening with your site and why.
