Overview

Gaurang Patel of South Loop CPA engaged our services to comprehensively rebrand and revitalize his web presence before tax season.

The project focused on three key priorities: implementing a user-friendly content management system, integrating a dedicated blog platform, and strategically positioning his service offerings to resonate with his specialized target market. Additionally, we created a distinctive new visual identity, completing the transformation of his digital brand.

Challenge

Migrating from Joomla to WordPress

The client’s website, originally built on Joomla, had remained untouched for several years. The platform’s unintuitive interface had led to broken pages and loss of functionality over time. Due to technical limitations preventing direct content migration to WordPress, we manually rebuilt the entire site. This process allowed us to enhance the site structure and implement necessary redirects, resulting in a more functional and user-friendly website.

Approach

Our approach included developing a custom theme, creating block patterns, and training the client—resulting in an accessible, SEO-optimized site the client can easily maintain.

We began with thorough market research, analyzing comparable firms, their service offerings, and positioning to establish a competitive baseline. This informed our visual identity development, where we crafted a cohesive color palette, selected appropriate typography, and refined the existing logo into a more contemporary and engaging design. Following the brand refresh, we conducted targeted keyword research for each service area, ensuring our content development strategy would align with both user needs and search visibility opportunities.

Additional features:

  • A custom post type to display case studies connecting services and industries
  • Migrated existing content, expanded and developed new search optimized content
  • Established a new and improved blog

Designing in the browser

Using our preliminary brand design work, we developed a custom WordPress theme within the WordPress site editor. Our design process then shifted directly into the browser with the WordPress block editor, enabling real-time layout creation and refinement. This approach provided the client with an interactive, realistic prototype for immediate review and testing. We enhanced the site’s functionality by creating custom block patterns and template designs tailored to the client’s specific needs. To ensure that the site remained manageable, we provided training sessions to allow the client to independently manage and expand their blog content.

The block editor’s visual interface now allows the client to maintain and update their website without requiring extensive technical expertise, while our strategically implemented customization constraints preserve the integrity of the brand design system.

Results

This website redesign project successfully transformed an outdated Joomla site into a modern, accessible WordPress platform tailored to meet the client’s specific needs. By conducting thorough market and keyword research, we developed a refreshed visual identity with a contemporary logo, cohesive color palette, and strategic typography choices. The manual rebuild allowed us to improve site architecture while implementing proper redirects to maintain SEO value.
